What's new at Universal Orlando and Disney World Resorts!

I spent last week at Universal Orlando Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort getting updated on the new attractions, resorts and events. As a family travel specialist is it my top priority to stay on top of the changes (and boy there are a lot of them!) so that I can help my clients plan the best experiences for their special vacations. We all know the internet often has incorrect or out of date information, luckily your travel agent doesn’t! Here are some of the attractions and events you don’t want to miss!

The third park at Universal Orlando Resort opened in May 2017 and is a hybrid of a traditional theme park and a water park.  The giant Krakatau volcano looms over the park and the Krakatau wave pool. This park takes things to the next level with the Tapu Tapu system. You are given wearable tapu tapu wrist bands when you enter the park. These allow you to reserve you place in line at many of the most popular attractions. Instead of waiting in line you can have fun at other attractions and are notified when it is your turn to ride! There is something from everyone from a fun children’s play area to a river that is anything but lazy and the Kookiri body plunge, a drop slide that has a 125 foot drop through the middle of the Krakatau volcano. There are conveyor belts to transport the rafts up to the top of the slide (yay no carrying rafts!!!) and the multiple dining venues feature unique cuisine like fish tacos and BBQ pizza. This park is a must do for thrill seekers and people looking for a day to relax a like!

Pandora- The Land of Avatar

Pandora is the newest land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. You are transported to the amazing land of the Na’vi with floating mountains, beautiful waterfalls and bio luminescent plant life. There are 2 new attractions in Pandora, the visually stunning Na’vi River Journey boat ride which is great for all ages and the state of the art Flights of Passage. Both attractions are extremely popular with long wait times however when you stay on site at a Disney World Resort hotel you can make your Fastpass for one of these great attractions 60 days in advance and skip the line! The Satu’li Canteen quick service restaurant has build your own bowls and delicious cheeseburger pods that are sure to be a hit with kids.

Newly Refurbished rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort

The rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort are getting a major facelift and have never looked better! With the whole resort scheduled to be completed by the end of summer all of the rooms are getting an upgrade with more lighting, tons of outlets to keep all of your devices charged and best of all queen beds! Even better one of the queen beds folds up to give you more space in your room. These rooms are modern and feel much larger than the older rooms which had double beds. Also coming to Disney’s Pop Century Resort is the Skyliner that will take you to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot in gondolas giving you a view of the resort you have never seen before.

These are just a few of the many new attractions and updates at Universal Orlando and Disney World and there are more on the way! Opening June 30, 2018 at Hollywood Studios is the brand new Toy Story Land and in 2019 the much anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will debut. 2019 Disney World vacation packages will be available in June and I am anticipating the most popular resorts will fill up quickly.
